Optometry Giving Sight has honored Greg Pearl, OD, as its Eye Health Hero as part of a celebration of front line personnel whose work in the field and engagement in the community makes an impact in providing vision and restoring sight around the world.
According to an Optometry Giving Sight press release, the recognition was made as part of the 9th General Assembly of the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB), which was held in Hyderabad, India last week.
Optometry Giving Sight selected Dr. Pearl in recognition of his 48 week-long VOSH optometry missions to Venezuela, Costa Rica, Columbia, Peru, El Salvador and Mexico; and his work as immediate past president of VOSH International in establishing sustainable vision care projects in Nicaragua, Mexico, El Salvador and Argentina.
The 9th General Assembly provides a platform to recognize and celebrate Dr. Pearl and the many other remarkable individuals – including his colleagues at VOSH – whose passion and commitment help give sight and hope to the millions in need of eye and vision care,” Clive Miller, CEO of Optometry Giving Sight, said in the press release. “Optometry Giving Sight is pleased to be working in partnership with Dr. Pearl and VOSH to achieve these outcomes”.
