CHICAGO – Researchers from Bausch + Lomb shared positive study results regarding the company’s new Biotrue ONEday lenses and multipurpose solution.

One study aimed to determine the stability of the image formed in the retinal plane during off-eye dehydration of the new daily disposable lens. Rosa H. Lee, MS, and colleagues at Bausch + Lomb found that the nesofilcon A lens “showed a more consistent and slower reduction in predicted retinal image quality over time” compared with other materials.

Another study by Ms. Lee aimed to understand the lens shape dynamics during off-eye dehydration of the same lens.

“Traditional clinical literature and belief suggests that higher-water content lenses dehydrate more than lower-water content lenses,” the poster said.

This study showed that the nesofilcon A lens had a more consistent lens shape over the 20-minute dehydration period when compared to other lens materials.

In a study by Mohinder M. Merchea OD, PhD, MBA, FAAO, FBCLA, more than 3,000 contact lens wearers were switched to Biotrue MPS and asked to complete a survey after 7 days. According to the poster, patients reported a high level of satisfaction when switched to the Biotrue solution.
