Eye Solutions introduces Blu-Tech lens technology
CHICAGO – Eye Solutions Inc., with partner Signet Armorlite, introduced its Blu-Tech lens technology that offers protection from ultraviolet and high energy visible light.
“We are excited to be the first to launch this exciting new technology that truly provides a medical benefit to millions of patients,” Ed DeRosa, executive vice president of sales and marketing at Signet Armorlite, said in a company press release.
High energy visible (HEV) light comes from the blue end of the visible spectrum. People are exposed to this type of light by flat screen devices, indoor energy efficient lighting and sunlight, according to the release.
It can cause retinal cell death and contributes to age-related macular degeneration. HEV light exposure in the evening can lead to altered circadian rhythm and risk of heart disease, diabetes and cancer, as reported in the Harvard Health Letter.
Blu-Tech indoor lenses will be available July 9 in Kodak Unique, Kodak Precise PB, Kodak Precise Short PB and Kodak MonitorView along with Signetek single vision and flat-top 28 designs. Outdoor polarized lenses are expected to be available in September.
