BOSTON — VRmagic introduced its new Eyesi Ophthalmoscope training simulator for binocular indirect ophthalmoscopy here at Academy 2011 Boston.

Eyesi Indirect is an augmented reality simulator that prepares trainees for clinical practice by means of a case-oriented didactic approach with a wide range of clinically relevant cases and immediate and objective evaluation of both procedural and diagnostic skills.

With this training platform, trainees will be able to experience a highly realistic 3D simulation of a retinal exam while learning basic exam skills, such as how to properly handle the ophthalmoscope. Other curricula included in the simulator include anatomical structures, basic findings and diagnosis, and clinical cases. All relevant pathologies for retina and vitreous are covered with a multitude of examples, and case descriptions and clinical records of the virtual patients are provided by the training system from a database that is always expanding.
