Topcon launches new wavefront analyzer

ATLANTA – Mark Newkirk of Topcon presented the new KR-1W 5-in-1 Wavefont Analyzer at a SECO-sponsored press conference.

The KR-1W has five modalities, including instruments to measure autorefraction, keratometry, corneal topography, Hartmann-Shack aberrometry and pupillometry, which are all performed simultaneously with infrared lighting, causing no pupil constriction, Mr. Newkirk said.

The analyzer is hands-free and does both eyes automatically in less than 40 seconds, he said. Other notable features include specialty contact lens fitting, multiple maps and a 10.4-inch color touch panel.

Some of its benefits include accurate screening, expert dry eye management, better validation of night vision symptoms, customizability, a small footprint, the ability to comanage cataract and refractive surgery patients, and network flexibility — it can connect directly to the network to feed its data or reports directly onto the server, said Mr. Newkirk.
