ATLANTA – NovaVision introduced its portable Head Mounted Perimetry unit here at the SECO meeting.

The Head Mounted Perimetry (HMP) Visual Field Screener is a lightweight, wireless ADA-compliant instrument that aids in the early detection of glaucoma, amblyopia and visual field deficits, which facilitates earlier disease detection, according to the release.

The screener features include an intuitive touch screen user interface, two speed settings and a diamond-shaped screening grid. It uses a suprathreshold three-zone strategy to produce a 60° X 44° field (horizontally and vertically, respectively) measured in increments of 4° instead of 6°, which allows clinicians to detect disease states earlier, the release said.

Tom Bridges, NovaVision vice president of sales and marketing, told PRIMARY CARE OPTOMETRY NEWS that the entire unit weights about 7 pounds in its carrying case, and it is ideal for nursing home visits.
