NEW YORK — Smile Reminder, a patient engagement service, introduced Active Presence at International Vision Expo.

Active Presence was designed to allow eye care professionals the ability to actively manage their "webutation," or online reputation, without taking up valuable time caring for patients, according to a company press release.

The feature works through a three-part system, the first of which is Active Monitor. This component routinely combs the web for all reviews citing a specific practice and reports back with the reviews plus other useful information such as an overall review score and a comparison review rating called Active Review.

This second component automatically pushes patient reviews to online directories such as Google, Yahoo! and Bing.

The third component, Active Push, submits a practice's information to the hundreds of directories available across the web. The directories are then watched by Active Monitor and the cycle is repeated, the release said.

Smile Reminder vice president of marketing and business development, Mark Olson, told PRIMARY CARE OPTOMETRY NEWS that Smile Reminder continues to provide optometrists with web-based tools for appointment reminders, medication notices, eye wear pick-ups, topic newsletters and marketing offers.
