New no-glare lenses introduced

NEW YORK — Essilor announced the launch of Crizal Sunshield lenses, a new no-glare sun lens that eliminates UV reflections on the back side of the lens at an Essilor-sponsored press conference held during International Vision Expo.

The new lenses incorporate Crizal Avancé lenses with Scotchgard Protector, the SR Booster Layer and anti-static properties to enhance scratch protection and resistance to dust, according to a company press release.

Essilor of America senior vice president of marketing and new business, Carl Bracy, said at the press conference that the lens will be a complete replacement for Crizal Sun with Scotchgard. "It will provide 360-degree protection," he said. The lenses allow 30% less UV light into the eye, eliminate 99% of visible glare and showed 40% greater comfort in testing compared to ordinary sun lenses, said the release.
