LAS VEGAS — According to PixelOptics executives here at a Vision Expo and Conference, the company is in the process of rolling out emPower, its electronic focusing eye wear.

Here at a company-sponsored press conference, Larry Rodriguez, PixelOptics senior vice president of global marketing and sales, said that the "soft launch" started in six offices in southeastern US in June, and one lab partner has been enabled. "Fifty pair were sold in five offices in a 7-week period," Mr. Rodriguez said.

Presbyopic wearers can set the glasses to focus for near automatically with head tilt, or it can be set for manual operation. Mr. Rodriguez said consumer response has been "better than expected."

He said the company is working with eye care providers to train them how to market the technology for their practices.

After the US launch, the company will target Europe, Canada, Asia and Latin America.
