Glaucoma society to provide grants

OAKLAND, Calif. — The Optometric Glaucoma Society has begun accepting applications for research grants. The grants are intended for nonestablished researchers in glaucoma who do not have independent funding and are intended to serve as initial funding for projects that may otherwise not qualify for traditional funding. Grants of up to $10,000 are available, and all areas of research related to glaucoma may be funded. The application process can be completed online at the OGS Web site: www.optometricglaucomasociety.org. The society is also offering travel awards for individuals involved in research related to glaucoma. Grants from $1,000 to $2,000 are available depending upon the length of travel for an individual to attend the Optometric Glaucoma Society and American Academy of Optometry annual meeting. The individual, who must be based at a school or college of optometry or recommended by a member of the Optometric Glaucoma Society, must also be engaged in research related to glaucoma and willing to present an abstract at the society’s meeting. Visit the Web site for the application process.
