Essilor Instruments opens new U.S. unit

GERMANTOWN, Wis. – Essilor Instruments launched a new business division in the U.S. on Jan. 1, according to a press release from the company.

The new unit will sell and service Essilor’s existing edging equipment line, which includes entry level equipment as well as premium Mr. Blue edging systems, to opticians, optometrists and ophthalmologists.

Essilor Instruments USA will report to Satisloh and National Optronics, though it will run as a separate company in day-to-day affairs under the leadership of Robin Rhodes, director of sales. Mr. Rhodes has a long history in the optical industry and previously managed sales with Essilor and Zeiss, the release said.

The new division will focus on the eye care practitioner market, while offering products from National Optronics and Satisloh, Andy Huthoefer, CEO of National Optronics, said in the press release.

The company worked for 6 months to create service teams comprising nine sales professionals and 10 service engineers, the release said. Essilor Instruments USA plans to expand over the next year.
