Alexander assumes AOA presidency, two trustees elected

BOSTON – Kevin L. Alexander, OD, PhD, of Sylvania, Ohio, assumed the presidency of the American Optometric Association here at Optometry’s meeting.

C. Thomas Crooks III, OD, of Birmingham, has moved into the position of immediate past president, and three other AOA Board of Trustees members were elected as officers by acclamation. Peter H. Kehoe, OD, of Galesburg, Ill., is now president-elect; Randolph E. Brooks, OD, of Ledgewood, N.J., is now vice president; and Joe E. Ellis, OD, of Benton, Ky., is now secretary-treasurer.

Two 3-year trustee positions were open, and three candidates were nominated: Steven Loomis, OD, of Littleton, Colo.; Andrea Thau, OD, of New York; and LeeAnn Barrett, OD, of Booneville, Mo. After a roll call vote, Drs. Thau and Loomis were elected.

Other trustees include: David A. Cockrell, OD, of Stillwater, Okla.; Ronald L. Hopping, OD, MPH, of Houston; Mitchell T. Munson, OD, of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; and Dori M. Carlson, OD, of Park River, N.D.
