ST. LOUIS – The American Board of Optometry announced in a press release that it has opened the exam registration process for the inaugural Board Certification Examination that is scheduled for June 1 to 18.

The ABO has set the registration fee at $1,250 throughout 2011, increasing to $1,500 in 2012. Optometrists may apply to become active candidates at the ABO website, www.abopt.org and will have until May 15 to complete all 150 points of the postgraduate requirements to be eligible for the June exam, according to the release. The next administration of the exam will be in December. Thereafter, it will be offered twice annually.
