According to a press release from Optometry Giving Sight, Mary Anne Murphy, OD, who is being sponsored by Vision Source, will also participate in a training and mentoring program for local optometrists.

Dr. Murphy will share her experiences while she is in Tanzania on Twitter (@givingsight.org) and on Facebook.

She will visit three new vision centers in the Bariadi, Morogoro and Ruvuma districts of Tanzania.

Dr. Murphy said in the press release that she hopes her Tweets and Facebook reports will inspire others to support Optometry Giving Sight.

“I have always supported Optometry Giving Sight’s focus on developing sustainable eye care projects and I feel truly privileged to have this opportunity to share some of my own expertise and knowledge with the local eye care professionals working in these vision centers,” she said.
