Recipients of 1996 Salierno Scholarship named
BETHESDA, Md.—Recipients of the prestigious Vincent Salierno Scholarship were announced recently by the American Optometric Foundation. The scholarship, started in the early 1970s by Rose Salierno and daughters, commemorates Vincent Salierno, founder of Victory Optical Manufacturing Inc.
Five optometry students were selected to receive the 1995-1996 scholarship. They are Renae L. Ries, a fourth year student at Pacific University College of Optometry; David S. Bell, a third year student at Indiana University School of Optometry; Nadine G. Humen, a student at Ohio State University College of Optometry; Linda Squillace-Gilligan, a fourth year student at the New England College of Optometry; and Toby D. Vallance, a third year student at the University of California School of Optometry.
These students are eligible to continue to receive the scholarships as long as they meet the criteria, which includes maintaining a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
SCO students named to Who's Who in '96
MEMPHIS, Tenn.—Twenty-two Southern College of Optometry (SCO) students have been chosen for inclusion in the 1996 edition of "Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges." These students are chosen on the basis of academic achievement, community service, leadership in extracurricular activities and potential for continued success.
SCO students selected are Margaret Allen, Claire Angel, Julie Caldwell, Chad Carter, Frances Dickson, Richard Durocher, David Eghigian, Matthew Evans, Lisa Godwin, Andy Howard, Mark Jackson, Kari Klemm, Laura Larson, Malinda Lucky, Rica McCoy, Brian Murray, Paula Putman Murray, Janet Provencal, Craig Pruitt, Kevin Stallard, Chris Strelioff, and Stephanie Bailes Willett.
