NEW YORK — In this Healio Video Perspective from OSN New York, John A. Hovanesian, MD, FACS, of Harvard Eye Associates discusses three tools to improve cataract surgery planning.

The Veracity surgery planner from Zeiss, the SMARTCataract planner from Alcon and the Eyetelligence platform from Bausch + Lomb are designed to provide ophthalmologists a more streamlined and less error-prone way to calculate lens implants before surgery.

“All of them take in digital information from diagnostic units, like an IOLMaster (Zeiss), an Argos (Alcon) or a Lenstar (Haag-Streit), and then allow you to use the very latest formulas using the data directly from the biometer to make a lens selection for your patients,” Hovanesian said.

The ASCRS Digital Clinical Committee is hosting two programs at the 2025 annual meeting: “Practical AI tools that can enhance your practice today” on April 25 and “Digital visualization in eye surgery — Is it time to adopt?” on April 26.
