VIDEO: AI may assist with detecting progression, conversion of AMD
SEATTLE — In this video from the ARVO meeting, Jay Chhablani, MD, discusses the advancement of AI technology to help predict the progression of age-related macular degeneration and geographic atrophy.
“It is very important that we accurately measure geographic atrophy, as well as predict, which could be helpful to picking up our patients who are considered as fast progressors so we can offer them treatment much earlier,” Chhablani, professor of ophthalmology at University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, said. “In addition to the artificial intelligence for images, I could also see the application of artificial intelligence in predicting AMD itself.”
