FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — In this Healio Video Perspective from the Retina World Congress, Ashkan M. Abbey, MD, shares tips for performing sutureless intrascleral IOL fixation in eyes with poor capsular support.

“The technique that I normally use for this involves using 27-gauge trocar cannulas to create scleral tunnels that are exactly 180° apart, where I can then fixate a three-piece IOL that’s either being rescued that’s been dislocated or that I am inserting into the eye after an exchange or in an aphakic eye,” he said.

Abbey also highlighted a study that looked at outcomes in the first 488 eyes in which he performed the procedure.
