BOSTON — In this Healio Video Perspective from the ASCRS meeting, Adam K. Muzychuk, MD, FRCSC, discusses findings that compared an “ultra-low” cylinder-powered 0.9 D toric IOL with a non-toric IOL after cataract surgery.

According to Muzychuk, the group of patients that received the toric lens had a statistically significant mean reduction in astigmatism.

“Almost three times as many eyes had plano cylinder outcomes with a 0.9 toric, almost twice as many had outcomes within 0.25 D, and a full 92.2% of patients had outcomes within 0.5 D with the 0.9 toric,” he said.
