BOSTON — In this Healio Video Perspective from the ASCRS meeting, Vance Thompson, MD, discusses his new role as president of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.

Thompson aims to continue the society’s legacy of education and advocacy for ophthalmologists and patients amid issues such as the recent threats to reimbursement in glaucoma.

“Some of my most important learnings clinically, surgically and in the business of what we do have been at the ASCRS,” he said. “The industry relationships and some of the neat research trials that I have been able to be a part of have happened at the ASCRS. So, for so many reasons, I’m so thankful.”
