WAILEA, Hawaii — In this Healio Video Perspective from Hawaiian Eye 2024, Nandini Venkateswaran, MD, shares key points for diagnosing and treating complex cases of neurotrophic keratitis.

Venkateswaran said the first step is making an accurate diagnosis, testing corneal sensation and identifying systemic comorbidities. Next, therapeutics must be considered, including topical options and other interventional modalities.

“Ocular surface protection and rehabilitation with scleral lens technology can be really beneficial for the patient,” she said. “It helps improve their vision but also helps promote epithelial healing.”
