- ARMOR data may be a source for treatment information.
SAN DIEGO — In this Healio Video Perspective from the ASCRS meeting, Penny A. Asbell, MD, FACS, MBA, discusses antibiotic resistance in endophthalmitis.
Asbell presented data from the ARMOR study that showed in vitro antibiotic resistance was prevalent among staphylococci in presumed endophthalmitis isolates. Previous results from the ARMOR study showed that although MRSA has decreased, it is often still multidrug resistant.
“It’s not just staph — the other organisms, too, can have resistance,” Asbell said. “Hopefully, ARMOR will be a source of information at least to get you going until you get cultures and antibiotic sensitivities to pick the best treatment for your patients.”
