Jim Mazzo will be honored with the second annual Lindstrom Leadership Award and Lecture for his career in the ophthalmic industry.
OSN Chief Medical Editor Richard L. Lindstrom, MD, will present Mazzo with the award during the Hawaiian Eye meeting on Sunday, Jan. 15.
“Jim Mazzo has contributed 4 decades of exemplary leadership to ophthalmology and eye care,” Lindstrom told Healio/OSN. “He has successfully led pre-commercial start-up companies, smaller early commercial companies and major global strategics. He has served organized ophthalmology widely, giving both time and money generously in an exemplary and productive fashion. His leadership is always evidence based, thoughtful and patient centric. I am proud to have him as a Lindstrom Leadership Award and Lecture honoree.”
The Wyanoke Group created the award to honor Lindstrom’s leadership in the field of ophthalmology and to celebrate his more than 40 years of service with OSN. It recognizes an individual who has shown dedicated leadership to nonclinical advances in ophthalmology, whether as part of industry, the investment community or with a professional society.
“It is an honor to be recognized for this very prestigious award, especially since it carries Dick Lindstrom’s name,” Mazzo told Healio/OSN. “I owe my success to all of the incredible people in my life who have joined me on this enriching journey. There is no greater gift than being allowed to work for something you are passionate about with people you truly care about.”
