MILAN — In this video from the ESCRS meeting, Nikki Hafezi, MAS, and Farhad Hafezi, MD, PhD, speak about smartphone-based technology as an affordable, reliable means for screening, diagnosing and monitoring keratoconus.

SBK (EMAGine AG), which stands for smartphone-based keratograph, is a handheld device that uses artificial intelligence and the processing power of a smartphone to enable early detection of keratoconus. It opens up opportunities for large screening projects in low- and middle-income countries, and it may be a valuable resource in the office of ophthalmologists who do not have access to state-of-the art technology.
