The Clareon family of IOLs is now available in the U.S., with an international rollout set to take place throughout 2022 and 2023, according to an Alcon press release.

“This is really an extremely exciting day for us as we finally get to share the news that our latest advancement in IOL technology, Clareon, will now be available to cataract surgeons and their patients in the U.S.,” Jim Di Filippo, vice president and general manager, U.S. Surgical at Alcon, said in a webinar hosted by the company.

The portfolio of available lenses includes Clareon monofocal, Clareon PanOptix, Clareon PanOptix toric, Clareon Vivity and Clareon Vivity toric. Clareon toric will be available in the U.S. later this year, according to the release.

“We wanted to offer cataract surgeons an even more pristine IOL material, including ... glistening free that would implant similarly to AcrySof and offer patients the same brilliant vision,” Rob Scott, vice president of research and development for intraocular devices at Alcon, said in the webinar.

The IOLs are inserted using the reusable Clareon Monarch IV delivery system, designed specifically for the Clareon material.
