Voyage to EHR, Day 10

On May 6, 2012, OSN columnist John Pinto launched “Voyage to EHR,” a month-long solo sail from San Diego to Honolulu aboard 24-foot “Aurelia” sponsored by Ocular Surgery News and Compulink.  You can follow his mid-ocean blogs here, and track his daily progress online until his slated arrival in early June by clicking on  http://tinyurl.com/AureliatoHawaii. John’s practice management blogs will resume in July.

Aloha from Aurelia at 26 degrees, 52 minutes north, and 129 degrees, 38 minutes west, at 9 a.m. PST on Tuesday, May 15.

For the [fades out]….we’ve only had to crank up the diesel auxiliary engine briefly to charge the batteries,. [Fades out]….and not to power through the doldrums as we experience for the first [Fades out].

During wind gusts, Aurelia is reaching her maximum hull speed of about 6 knots. The hull starts humming and with the [fades out….] surf toward Waikiki Beach.

Mahalo, from Aurelia and the Hawaiian Eye Foundation.

John’s voyage is meant to raise awareness of the similar “expedition” surgeons undertake when converting to electronic health records and will also support the work of the Hawaiian Eye Foundation.
