Voyage to EHR, Day 1

On May 6, 2012, OSN columnist John Pinto launched “Voyage to EHR,” a month-long solo sail from San Diego to Honolulu aboard 24-foot “Aurelia” sponsored by Ocular Surgery News and Compulink.  You can follow his mid-ocean blogs here, and track his daily progress online until his slated arrival in early June by clicking on  http://tinyurl.com/AureliatoHawaii. John’s practice management blogs will resume in July.

Reaching (garbled) degrees 33 minutes North and 117 degrees 23 minutes West. It’s 2 p.m. Pacific Standard Time. We cleared the dock at 4 (garbled) hours ago; just 695 hours left to go until we reach Honolulu.

Lumpy seas, low winds…the usual coastal (fades out) ripping along at 3 knots. Four (knots), sometimes.

San Diego is receding in the distance. The sun is peeking through. Nothing (fades out) since Saturday. Bliss.

Thanks for supporting the Hawaiian Eye Foundation. Mahalo.

John’s voyage is meant to raise awareness of the similar “expedition” surgeons undertake when converting to electronic health records and will also support the work of the Hawaiian Eye Foundation.
