Question: What is the goal of this years meeting?

Answer: Our meeting provides the latest information in an interactive format with lots of debates among experts and lots of dialogue with faculty and attendees. Typically, our goal is to bring unbiased education to everyone, ultimately demonstrating that there is more than one way to achieve a successful outcome. We also strive to provide not just the latest information, but the real, credible information about particular devices or drugs, as well as practical information on the benefits to patients and how to incorporate the new products into practice.

Q: What are you most looking forward to this year?

A: We are moving into a new conference facility, which will allow us to continue to grow the meeting and to expand the types of educational venues we can offer.

I am also looking forward to bringing back, after many years, the Mingo Point oyster roast. It is outdoors, it is casual, it is family oriented, and it is a great opportunity for attendees and their families to mix and mingle on a social level. It does not matter whether you are an attendee or part of the industry — everyone collaborates socially on the same level. It has been the best interaction we have had with faculty, with industry and with attendees, so we are thrilled to be able to bring that back.

Q: Which speakers are you excited to hear?

A: Having a chance to listen to some of the best and brightest minds every year is always a highlight. The debates are inspiring, lively and entertaining. Even so, as the meeting continues to grow, we are attracting more and younger faculty. It has been really nice to see the diversity of the faculty, in terms of age as well as experience and professional expertise, continue to evolve and expand.

Q: What else should ophthalmologists know about the meeting?

A: For folks who have not been, this is a great year to come. For folks who come year after year, we are looking forward to seeing them again. This may be our best meeting yet.
