The National Kidney Foundation has awarded the Joel D. Kopple Award to Kathy Schiro Harvey, MS, RDN, CSR.
The award is the Council on Renal Nutrition’s highest honor, and recipients exemplify the NKF’s “relentless efforts to improve patient outcomes through action, education and accelerating change,” according to a press release.
“Kathy is being recognized due to her unwavering commitment to enhancing the lives of patients with kidney disease and in her dedicated approach to patient care,” Sylvia E. Rosas, MD, MSCE, NKF president, said in the release. “She seeks to educate about nutrition in the setting of kidney disease and tailors her support to help the patient achieve their goals.”
Harvey, who recently retired after 40 years in the renal nutrition profession, also received the Susan C. Knapp Excellence in Education Award from the NKF in 2018.
