Patients on dialysis or those who have received kidney transplants and reside in Carroll, Humphreys, Monroe and Sharkey counties in Mississippi are eligible for the grants. The relief can assist patients with replacing lost medications, renal diet foods, clothing and personal essentials. Additionally, the grants can pay for temporary housing and transportation to treatments.

According to the release, American Kidney Fund (AKF) has partnered with AdheaRx, which utilizes artificial intelligence to offer disaster relief resources and communication to patients in affected areas.

"Our hearts go out to everyone in Mississippi who has been affected by these deadly tornadoes," LaVarne A. Burton, president and CEO of AKF, said in the release. "During natural disasters like these, in which people's homes are literally torn apart, the last thing anyone should have to worry about is their health care. AKF is ready to provide financial assistance to help ensure people on dialysis and post-transplant patients in the affected Mississippi counties have access to the lifesaving care they need to survive."
