ORLANDO — In this video from ASN Kidney Week, Michael Aragon, MD, the chief medical officer of Outset Medical, discusses human factor validation of the Tablo Hemodialysis System in patients doing home dialysis.

Researchers recruited 15 patients and care partner pairs, six of whom had prior experience with home hemodialysis, to test the Tablo user interface at home. Following 2 days of training, patients used Tablo without assistance. Researchers recorded task performance and took an interview and knowledge task assessments.

“During our study, patients and care partners performed over 5,400 tasks and had an extremely low user error rate of 0.9%,” Aragon told Healio. “In conclusion, the study confirms that Tablo is an easy to use and easy to learn device across a wide array of patients and care partners.”
