In this video, Philippe Gauthier, MD, a transplant nephrologist and senior medical director of organ health at Natera, discusses a two-threshold algorithm that uses donor-derived cell-free DNA and quantity to detect transplant rejection.

Cell-free DNA is a great technology, and it’s increasingly clear that it is a useful tool in your toolkit,” Gauthier said.

He discusses the clinical importance of the Trifecta study presented at the American Transplant Congress and the strong association his team identified between donor-derived cell-free DNA and molecular rejection. Gauthier and colleagues plan to publish more research on the topic.
