ECCMID returns as hybrid meeting

The European Congress of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases is taking place for the first time this year as a hybrid meeting with both live and online components.

Known commonly as ECCMID, the meeting is being held from April 23 to 26 in Lisbon, Portugal.

Last year, the conference took place in the summer as a completely online meeting for the first time because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. In 2020, conference leaders canceled the live on-site components of ECCMID in Paris as the COVID-19 situation worsened.

According to the ECCMID website, the conference is expected to have an audience of more than 14,000 people from all over the world. The scientific program, which is selected by an independent group of experts in clinical microbiology and infectious diseases, can be found here.

“ECCMID has emerged as the premier ID conference for issues pertaining to antibiotic resistance and newer antimicrobials,” said Infectious Disease News Editorial Board Member Keith S. Kaye, MD, MPH, chief of allergy, immunology and infectious disease at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. “I am excited to see the cutting-edge research in these areas.”

Links to register for the meeting are available here. Infectious Disease News has staff onsite in Lisbon covering the meeting live. Check our ECCMID meeting page for coverage throughout the week.
