CDC extends eviction moratorium through June to help slow COVID-19 spread
The CDC has extended the eviction moratorium a second time to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
On Monday, CDC Director Rochelle P. Walensky, MD, signed an extension to the eviction moratorium, carrying the order through June 30. The moratorium was set to expire on March 31.

“In short, evictions threaten to increase the spread of COVID-19 as they force people to move, often into close quarters in new shared housing settings with friends or family, or congregate settings such as homeless shelters,” the CDC wrote in the order. “The ability of these settings to adhere to best practices, such as social distancing and other infection control measures, decreases as populations increase.”

The CDC noted that homelessness has been associated with an increase risk for hospitalization from COVID-19.
