VIDEO: Virtual conferences offer ‘best of both worlds’
In this video, Thomas K. Varghese Jr., MD, MS, spoke with Healio about attending the National Comprehensive Cancer Network Virtual Annual Meeting and the advantages of the virtual format.
According to Varghese, interim executive medical director and chief value officer at the Huntsman Cancer Institute and head of the Section of General Thoracic Surgery, program director of the Integrated Thoracic Surgery Residency and Cardiothoracic Surgery Fellowship and professor in the department of surgery at the University of Utah, the virtual format increases access and provides flexibility to attend more sessions.
However, he also noted the loss of networking opportunities and “water cooler moments” with the virtual format.
“You’ve got the best of both worlds,” Varghese said. “But the fear is, are we missing out on things?”
