Fox Chase Cancer Center announced several faculty appointments.
- Elizabeth A. Bourne, DO, joined the department of medicine as assistant professor in the division of hospitalist medicine. Bourne was chief internal medicine resident at Jefferson Health Northeast, where she spent time as a hospitalist, as well as a member of the ICU, rapid response team, hematology/oncology and palliative care. She began working at Fox Chase on Aug. 15.
- Gabriel Isaza, MD, will serve as assistant professor in the division of dermatology. Isaza joined Fox Chase from Temple University Hospital, where he served as chief resident in the dermatology residency program. Isaza received his medical degree from University of Panama School of Medicine in Panama. He completed his medical internship through University of Panama at Arnulfo Arias Madrid Metropolitan Hospital, St. Thomas Hospital, Children’s Hospital and Nicolas Solano Hospital. As part of that program, he received training in surgery, obstetrics/gynecology, pediatrics, psychiatry and emergency medical services. He started at Fox Chase on Aug. 17.
- Robert Brenchak, MD, has been appointed assistant professor in the division of hospital medicine. Brenchak will join Fox Chase from Temple University, where he was assistant professor of clinical medicine in the department of hospital medicine. He received his medical degree from the Temple University Lewis Katz School of Medicine and completed his internal medicine residency at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. His appointment at Fox Chase will take effect Sept. 1.
- Jason Alfred Castellanos, MD, MS, will join the department of surgical oncology as assistant professor in the academic clinician track in the division of general surgery. He will focus on pancreatic, liver and bile duct cancers. Castellanos completed fellowships in complex general surgical oncology and hepatopancreatobiliary surgery at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Castellanos is certified by the American Board of Surgery in general surgery, and he is board eligible in clinical informatics and complex general surgical oncology. He will start at Fox Chase on Sept. 1.
- Maureen V. Hill, MD, will serve as clinical instructor in the department of surgical oncology. She will start at Fox Chase on Sept. 1 upon completion of a complex general surgical oncology fellowship at the institution. Hill is certified by the American Board of Surgery. She also received advanced training in the fundamentals of laparoscopic and endoscopic surgery from Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons.
- Christopher M.K.L. Yao, MD, FRCSC, will join the department of surgical oncology as assistant professor in the academic clinician track in the division of head and neck surgery. His clinical work will focus on head and neck tumors, including advanced skin cancers, salivary gland disease and thyroid/parathyroid disorders. His interests include transoral robotic surgery, complex microvascular reconstruction for head and neck defects, and sentinel lymph node mapping. Yao completed a fellowship in advanced head and neck surgical oncology and microvascular reconstruction at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. He will start at Fox Chase on Sept. 1.
- Jean M. Arlt, PhD, will join the department of medicine as assistant professor in the division of psychiatry. Arlt completed her postdoctoral fellowship in mental health integration at Corporal Michael J. Crescenz VA Medical Center. She also completed a predoctoral psychology internship and her psychology externship at the VA. She was a master’s level clinician in Temple University’s eating disorders program. She also served as therapist and assessor in the psychological services center at Temple. She will join Fox Chase on Sept. 8.
