Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center appointed three people to new roles in key areas of clinical care.

Mary Ann Long, RN, MS, has been appointed senior vice president of nursing.

Long — who has more than 30 years of service as an ICU nurse — previously served as director of magnet at Roswell Park until her retirement in 2012. She also served as assistant director of nursing and director of patient care services.

Laurie J. Smith has been named vice president of clinical research services.

Smith will support more than 400 active clinical trials a year and supervise staff engaged in study submission, study implementation, data collection and management.

She previously served as an independent consultant and vice president of clinical research for AMITA Health.

Timothy Quinn, MD
Timothy Quinn

Timothy Quinn, MD, has been promoted to chief of critical care, a newly created position.

Quinn — a critical care anesthesiologist who previously served as co-director of the ICU — will work with members of Roswell Park’s ICU and intermediate care unit to provide evidence-based oncologic care to patients.

His research interests include preoperative evaluation of high-risk patients, intraoperative care and postoperative quality-improvement initiatives.
