American Association for Cancer Research expects to reschedule this year’s AACR Annual Meeting for this summer.
Association officials decided earlier this month to postpone the meeting — which had been planned for April 24-29 in San Diego — due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We continue to closely monitor the developments surrounding COVID-19, and we wish to inform all of our colleagues around the world that we are planning to reschedule the meeting for August,” association officials said in a statement released today. “An official announcement of the dates and location will be made in the near future. “
Association officials also announced they will hold a virtual preview of the annual meeting during the original meeting dates so some of the latest developments in the field can be shared with the research community and patients before the in-person meeting takes place.
“Beginning [April 27], the AACR will host a slate of online sessions featuring innovative presentations of proffered papers and invited content,” the statement read. “The virtual meeting program will include exciting clinical trial data from submitted abstracts, as well as basic and translational science selected by the Annual Meeting Scientific Program Committee. We will be sending detailed information about the virtual program soon.”
