Cleveland Clinic names urology chair

Georges-Pascal Haber, MD, PhD, has been appointed chair of urology at Cleveland Clinic’s Glickman Urological and Kidney Institute.

He will continue to serve as professor of surgery in urology at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine.

Haber is recognized as a pioneer in robotic and laparoscopic urologic surgery. He oversaw the primary development of stereotactic navigation for percutaneous cryoablation of kidney cancer. He also pioneered Cleveland Clinic’s robotic intracorporeal urinary diversion program, and played a key role in developing scar-free kidney and prostate surgery performed through the belly button.

“I am excited by the opportunity to work with Dr. Haber in his new capacity as chair,” Eric Klein, MD, chair of Glickman Urological and Kidney Institute, said in a press release. “He brings vision and energy to the role that will continue to build on the success of the department.”

Haber joined Cleveland Clinic in 2005 for postgraduate training in laparoscopic and robotic urology. He subsequently received an appointment to the department of urology’s clinical staff.
