Joan Lunden, an award-winning journalist and breast cancer survivor, will serve as keynote speaker at Hematology/Oncology Pharmacy Association’s annual conference next spring.

The conference, HOPA Ahead 2019, will be held April 3-6 in Fort Worth, Texas.

Lunden served as co-host of Good Morning America on ABC from 1980 through 1997. She also has written 12 books.

She was diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer in 2014. Her treatment consisted of chemotherapy, surgery and radiation.

In her keynote address, Lunden will share her personal experience with breast cancer and what she learned. She also will provide insights into the views of other women who have contacted her through her website.

Lunden — who reflected on her cancer journey in a memoir titled Had I Known — now advocates before federal lawmakers on behalf of patients.

She also serves as an ambassador for Breakaway from Cancer, a national initiative found by Amgen that helps people affected by cancer learn about available resources.
