Yale School of Medicine appoints chair of surgery department
Nita Ahuja, MD, has been named chair of the department of surgery at Yale School of Medicine.
Ahuja also will serve as chief of surgery at Yale New Haven Hospital.
Her appointment will take effect on Feb. 1.
“From my very first visit to Yale, I felt that collaborative spark where faculty, residents and students are interested in improving health,” Ahuja said in a press release.
Ahuja currently serves as professor of abdominal surgery and professor of surgery, oncology and urology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She also is chief of surgical oncology at Johns Hopkins Hospital and associate director of Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins.
Ahuja directs the gastric cancer and soft tissue sarcoma programs. Her surgical specialization is gastrointestinal cancers.
