Arturo Loaiza-Bonilla

Cancer Treatment Centers of America at Eastern Regional Medical Center in Philadelphia announced the hiring of Arturo Loaiza-Bonilla, MD, as chief of medical oncology and medical director of research.

Bonilla will be responsible for supervising and mentoring the medical oncology staff.

Bonilla also will see patients, oversee the clinical research department, and guide processes that help improve the quality of patient care through evidenced-based clinical practices.

“We are excited to welcome Dr. Bonilla to our team of skilled physicians and clinical care experts,” Nancy Hesse, MSN, RN, president and CEO at Cancer Treatment Centers of America at Eastern Regional Medical Center, said in a press release. “Dr. Bonilla’s extensive background in cancer care education and research will further Cancer Treatment Centers of America as a leading provider of precision cancer care.”

Bonilla previously served as assistant professor of clinical medicine at University of Pennsylvania. In that role, he specialized in the care of patients with gastrointestinal malignancies, with an emphasis on colorectal, hepatobiliary, upper digestive and pancreatic cancers.
