ASH selects trainees, junior faculty for research training institute

ASH selected 20 hematology trainees and early career faculty members to participate in the ASH Clinical Research Training Institute.

The yearlong education and mentorship program — intended to help prepare participants for careers in patient-oriented clinical research — provides guidance on the fundamentals of competitive grant writing, abstract presentation and manuscript preparation. It also helps prepare trainees to develop successful careers in hematology research and build a network of other trainees to promote future collaboration.

This year’s training participants are Alexey Aleshin, MD, of Stanford University; Eugenia Asare, MBChB, BSc, of Ghana Institute of Clinical Genetics; Allison Barz Leahy, MD, of Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia; Marisol Betensky, MD, MPH, of Johns Hopkins University; Neel Bhatt, MBBS, MPH, of Medical College of Wisconsin Affiliated Hospitals; Brandon Blue, MD, of Saint Louis University School of Medicine; Cecelia Calhoun, MD, of Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Barnes-Jewish Hospital and St. Louis Children’s Hospital Consortium; Shruti Chaturvedi, MBBS, MSCI, of Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine; Robert Cronin, MD, MS, of Vanderbilt University; Peter Forsberg, MD, of University of Colorado, Denver; Elissa Furutani, MD, of Boston Children's Hospital; James Godfrey, MD, of University of Chicago; Fiona He, MD, of University of Minnesota; Ang Li, MD, of University of Washington; Kah Poh Loh, MBBCh, BAO, of University of Rochester; Shylaja Mani, MBBS, of The Ohio State University Hospital; Robert Nickel, MD, MSc, of Children’s National Medical Center; Allyson Pishko, MD, of Hospital of University of Pennsylvania; Jordan Schaefer, MD, of University of Michigan; and Surbhi Sidana, MBBS, of Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
