Deric Savior, MD, has been promoted to head of medical oncology at Fox Chase Cancer Center at Temple University Hospital.

Savior — who specializes in treating lung cancers and head and neck cancers — will lead efforts to expand medical oncology services. His priorities will include strengthening cancer research efforts, including increasing clinical trial enrollment.

Savior joined the medical oncology faculty at Temple in 2009. He previously led the Fox Chase thoracic oncology section at Temple University Hospital.

“Over nearly a decade on the Temple faculty, Deric has served in a number of important roles, and I am excited to see all that his leadership will bring to our collaborative hematology/oncology section,” Martin J. Edelman, MD, chair of the department of hematology/oncology at Fox Chase, said in a press release. “He has been instrumental in meeting our goal to provide the same world-class clinical care and access to the latest trials to our patients at both locations.”
