No Stomach For Cancer awards grants to support stomach cancer research

No Stomach For Cancer awarded $100,000 worth of grants to fund research related to immunotherapy and use of blood biomarkers to predict early recurrence of stomach cancer.

The studies funded through the 2017 Grant for Gastric Cancer Innovation, Education and Opportunity program will be conducted at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, as well as Peter MacCallum Cancer Center in Australia.

No Stomach For Cancer, a 501(c)(3) organization, raises awareness about screening, early detection, treatment and prevention of stomach cancer.

“As a global leader in stomach cancer advocacy, we will continue to support research that will deliver improved outcomes for patients,” Jon Florin, executive director of No Stomach For Cancer, said in a press release. “We are optimistic that these research programs will develop and grow into real-world applications that improve earlier detection and a better quality of life for stomach cancer patients in the long term.”
