Issue: June 10, 2017

Pawel Kalinski, MD, PhD, has been appointed vice chair for translational research at Roswell Park Cancer Institute.

Kalinski also will serve as director of cancer vaccine and dendritic cell therapies within the institute’s Center for Immunotherapy, as well as professor for molecular therapeutics and translational research, professor of oncology, and co-leader of the tumor immunology and immunotherapy program.

“Pawel is a highly sought-after researcher whose interests and abilities will both complement and enhance our Center for Immunotherapy and the broader goals of Roswell Park Cancer Institute,” Kunle Odunsi, MD, PhD, FRCOG, FACOG, deputy director of Roswell Park and executive director the Center for Immunotherapy, said in a press release. “He appropriately views all his activities through the lens of how they can best be integrated into a comprehensive program to improve treatment, outcomes and quality of life for cancer patients. We are honored to welcome him as a colleague.”

Kalinski’s research focuses on the biology of dendritic cells, T cells and tumor microenvironment–associated myeloid cells.

Kalinski previously served as director of research and director of the immunotransplantation center in the division of surgical oncology at University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute. He also served as professor in the departments of surgery, immunology, biology, and infectious diseases and microbiology at University of Pittsburgh.
