Radiation oncologist joins Loyola University Health System board

William Small, Jr., MD, FACRO, FACR, FASTRO, chair of the department of radiation oncology at Loyola University Health System, has been named to the health system’s board of directors.

Small, who also serves as co-chairman of the NRG Oncology Gynecologic Committee, is known for his research into and treatment of gynecologic, gastrointestinal and breast cancers. He is a fellow of the American College of Radiation Oncology and the American Society for Radiation Oncology.

“Dr. Small is a leader in his field, and we are very grateful he has agreed to expand his commitment to Loyola by joining our board,” Larry M. Goldberg, president and CEO of Loyola University Health System, said in a press release.

Small previously served as vice chair of radiation oncology at Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University. He also has served as president of the Council of Affiliated Regional Radiation Oncology Societies and the Chicago Radiological Society, as well as chair of the Gynecologic Cancer InterGroup Cervix Cancer Committee.
