Healio.com celebrates 5th anniversary

THOROFARE, N.J. – Healio.com, a clinical news and education website for health care professionals in more than 25 specialties, celebrates its 5-year anniversary this month.

“The goal with Healio was, very simply, to put everything in one place,” said Peter N. Slack, president and CEO of The Wyanoke Group. “It was going to help search engine results; it was going to help physicians and other health care practitioners who visit Healio. By my observation, it’s been a resounding success.”

Healio has experienced a dramatic increase in traffic and registered users, with pageviews growing more than 25% year over year. Registered users have increased from less than 100,000 in 2013 to more than 400,000 today, according to John C. Carter, chief operating officer of The Wyanoke Group.

“There is a total universe of about 800,000 physicians in the United States,” Carter said. “More than one out of four U.S. physicians are part of the Healio audience.”

Healio is the universal platform for all entities of The Wyanoke Group, including SLACK Incorporated; Vindico Medical Education, which recently received Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education Accreditation with Commendation for six years; and Association and Meeting Solutions, which runs eight U.S. meetings. Progress has been made across all branches of The Wyanoke Group and is expected to continue, according to Carter.

“Health Care Books and Journals, a division of SLACK Incorporated, launched their first online-only, open-access journal in early 2017,” he said. “Vindico Medical Education and the Healio Education Lab are undertaking a content-seeding program and a content-hosting agreement that is going to dramatically grow the footprint of the Education Lab. Learn the Heart, Learn Genomics, Learn Immuno-Oncology and In the Journals Plus represent exciting new content types we’ve been experimenting with.”

Healio and The Wyanoke Group remain committed to evolving and meeting the needs of a changing market, according to Slack.

“Our belief is that, as long as we keep delivering the content that our users want, in the format they want to receive it, we will be successful,” he said. “If people are coming to Healio, we’re delivering on what our sponsors, our advertisers and our supporters want to receive.”
