VIDEO: Mouthwash reduces everolimus-related stomatitis in women with breast cancer

SAN ANTONIO — A “miracle mouthwash” reduced stomatitis incidence during treatment with everolimus, Sharon Wilks, MD, FACP, oncologist with Texas Oncology, a practice in The U.S. Oncology Network, told HemOnc Today at the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium.

This treatment may help women with breast cancer stay on everolimus treatment longer and, thus, improve their outcomes.

“Now we have a drug that we can now use in women so it allows for us to have it as part of our active armamentarium — a mixture in a mouthwash that can really help women tolerate this common side effect to treatment,” she said. – by Kristie L. Kahl
