Ohio State names chair of surgery department

Timothy Pawlik, MD, MPH, PhD, has been named the new chair of The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center’s department of surgery.
Pawlik also will serve as chair for cancer research.

“We’re excited to welcome Tim to the medical center,” Sheldon M. Retchin, MD, MSPH, executive vice president of health sciences and CEO of the Wexner Medical Center, said in a press release. “His widely respected surgical acumen and expertise in liver cancer offers tremendous opportunities and advantages to our department of surgery. We’re confident that his broad background in clinical program building, research excellence and team building will enhance the department’s mission.”
Pawlik previously served as chief of the division of surgical oncology and program director of the surgical oncology fellowship at Johns Hopkins Hospital. He also served as director of the Johns Hopkins Liver Tumor Center.
Pawlik’s primary clinical interests include alimentary tract surgery, with a special interest in hepatic, pancreatic and biliary diseases.
